Happy Mother's Day, Everyone! And I say everyone for a reason. There were so many years that I would celebrate this holiday with a broken heart. Of course I enjoyed honoring MY mother, who inspires me to be the best mom and daughter of God I can be. I loved sending cards to my grandma's, aunt's and in-laws. I even enjoyed hearing tributes on TV, in church, in magazines, about outstanding mothers who deserve a moment in the spotlight. Yet, I ached to be celebrated also... I wanted to know what that felt like to be included "in the club." After 8 miscarriages, it felt a little unattainable. I feel honored this year to be a proud member of that special club and I thank my Toby for making me laugh everyday. I love him so much it hurts! He is my sunshine and I want to thank my loving Father in Heaven for blessing Andrew and I with this fun loving, special lil' guy and the other lil' guy that reminds me every few hours that he can't wait to come out and play. I never thought it could be this great, but it is. Yet, I am mindful that there are sisters that are still searching for their "membership." I know how it hurts to want something so bad and not know when the answers will come. I have friends that have never married and do not have children of their own, yet have been such a example to me of a true mother. I have family and friends that have tried to get pregnant and don't know why their dreams aren't coming true. These people have worked with the youth and younger family members and are looked up to as a strong examples of passion and endurance. I also have dear friends and family that have lost their own mothers and this weekend is a bittersweet reminder. My sisters, we can all be a part of this miraculous club! We can be that certain someone to those in need and pray to our Heavenly Father that we do not feel alone. He is with us and is mindful of our desires and struggles. He loves us and wants us to be happy. Let's find that happiness and share it with others in our club. So, open enrollment for EVERYONE...all are welcome to join in the celebration of motherhood!

That was such a sweet, heartfelt blog. I loved it. I am sure it meant a lot to many women. You are so sensitive and considerate to others. And you look beautiful in this pic. You always do, but this pic is awesome. Happy M's day. You are a great mom and great friend.
Thank you for expressing this! It's the kind of post that I wish I would have written myself because I so completely agree with it! :)
I remember the days of thinking longingly, "When will I get to be a mother on Mother's Day?" and this year my heart was almost too full as I thought about my 3 little blessings. But I know there are women for whom Mother's Day is a painful holiday.
Thank you again for sharing this and for being so sensitive to others!
Davene...you are a sweetheart and I'm so glad that you had a blessed day!
Michelle, you have such a beautiful heart! This made me tear up. And was so beautifully written. YOU are such a sweetheart!
Mwah!
'chelle,
I just read this again and got tears in my eyes. You are so sensitive and this trial you have been through has blessed you with understanding and compassion that will always be part of who you are. This is so wonderful, because so many times we can let ourselves get bitter when we go through junk that tears our hearts out. You, though, have become even more beautiful.
I LOVE that you came to me, and that I get to be your mother. Thanks for the kind words, and as always, I feel inadequate. But if you keep putting up with me, I'll keep trying.
Love to you! (and Happy Happy Mother's "Day")
By the way, you look absolutely stunning in that picture. You are so beautiful!
Michelle, I love your blog and that is one of the most beautiful tributes I have read. Congrats on your second little boy who is coming soon~so exciting!
Thanks Melissa...you have such a beautiful family!
Keep up the good work.
