Diet Coke and Dog Bones

Last week, I had one of those "Diet Coke/Dog Bones" kind of mothering days. I decided to take the boys to see a free movie, "Charlotte's Web" that was playing at a local theater. We took Toby's friend Hunter with us and the boys thought the experience was great! However, about 20 minutes before the movie ended, Tate decided that he was done watching it and vocally made me aware of his wishes :) We were packed in like sardines since it was in fact free and exiting was going to be quite the challenge at that moment. I reached into my purse and retrieved his empty bottle from earlier and make a quick decision...DIET COKE! I looked around..to the left and to the right and made sure none of the other moms saw what I was about to do. Juggling my large drink, the bottle and Tate, I poured some into the bottle between my legs which Tate absolutely devoured! I sat there the rest of the movie quite pleased with myself with the success of my juggling act but felt oddly like an Appalachian mom who puts pop in their baby's bottle. (No offense if anyone originates from the mountains; I just watched a documentary about Appalachian people only consuming Mountain Dew including babies.) I swore to myself that next time we came to a movie, I would bring two bottles with a proper beverage for my sweetie-pie!
After arriving home and putting a few things away, I noticed something very strange in my home...silence. I walked into my foyer and this is what I found...Tate nursing a dog bone and enjoying the heck out of it. Diet Coke and Dog Bones...what a day!
Mother of the Year!!!!!!!

I'm not sure who this kid is. I know you claim that he's Tate but, he's too big! Too grown up! I must see him. SOON!

ps - he is so adorable!

Carrie I take great offense to your comment! Some of us southerners are civilized as well as you northerners :).
I think that we are all guilty of doing odd things to make us mother of the year Michelle, but letting your son eat dog bones? A little dog food or treats will not hurt Tate, let's just hope that he does not start barking.
